Save Money and Improve Air Quality with Aeroseal Duct Sealing

Aeroseal Duct Sealing

Did you know that about half of your energy bill goes toward the heating, air conditioning, and ventilation of your home? Additionally, it's likely that almost a third of every dollar you spend on heating and cooling your home is wasted due to leaky air ducts. Leaky ducts in American homes accumulate $25 billion in wasted energy dollars each year; the financial loss for commercial buildings is much higher.

Leaky air ducts pull pollutants like mold and dust into your home. The resulting indoor air quality problems create allergy problems for millions of Americans. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers indoor air pollution to be one of the biggest public health concerns in America.

How does Aeroseal work?

The Aeroseal six-step process quickly delivers big energy savings and improvements in your family's comfort. This is the patented process that your Aeroseal technician will follow:

  1. Cover wall registers so that air can only escape ducts through leaks.
  2. Inject sealant into the air ducts for an hour.
  3. Continuous air movement keeps small aerosol particles suspended in the ducts.
  4. Aerosol particles stick to the leak edges, and then with other particles.
  5. Once the air ducts are sealed, only 1-2 ounces of aerosol remain in the air ducts.
  6. An analysis is completed, summarizing your home’s air leakage and confirming a successful sealing of the air ducts.

The Aeroseal technology was created by the Indoor Environment Program at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This revolutionary research was funded by the EPA, Department of Energy, Electric Power Research Institute, and California Institute of Energy and Environment.
