3 Most Common Reasons for Poor Indoor Air Quality

How to improve your home's indoor air quality.

Indoor Air Quality

Your home's indoor air quality is centrally important to your family's health. If anyone in your family suffers from allergies, frequent illness, or headaches, poor indoor air quality may be the culprit.

The three most common causes of poor indoor air quality are:

  1. Biological Pollutants - including pollen, dust, mold, animal dander, and particles from pests. Dust, vacuum, sweep, and mop regularly to keep household surfaces clear of biological pollutants, make sure your home's humidity is at the ideal level by installing a humidifier/dehumidifier, and have a good HEPA air filtration system installed in your home.
  2. Smoke Pollutants - from tobacco products, cooking, or poorly vented fireplaces. Only smoke outside, always use your range's venting system (or have one installed), and have your chimney cleaned at least once a year to help keep smoke pollution out of the home.
  3. Chemical Pollutants - such as radon, asbestos, carbon monoxide, and formaldehyde. Each of these chemicals has a different cause or source, but they can all be tested for and removed from the home.

At Comfort Services, we provide several services that can check and improve the quality of your indoor air quality. We can install and service humidifiers, dehumidifiers, air filtration systems, furnaces, air conditioners, and more.

We can also test your home's air for a wide range of pollutants and help you determine the best way to get rid of the pollutants' sources.
