There’s Water Dripping From My HVAC Unit. How Can I Fix This?

Carrier AC fan

Summer is here and it is time to check if your air conditioning system is ready. There is a high likelihood that you will find it leaking. The leak can be small but if left unchecked it can lead to a lot of damage. What most people do not realize is that a majority of small leaks can be repaired without involving an expert. Here is how to go about it.

Top 3 Reasons for a Leaky HVAC Unit

1. The overflow drain pan has a crack or a hole. You can inspect this using a flashlight. You can use epoxy glue to patch up the small holes and cracks. If the damage is extensive you can replace the damaged overflow pan.

2. The filter is clogged with dirt. Simply changing the air filter after every month or two can prevent this. Inspect the filter every chance you get and replace it if it is dirty. The dirt causes ice to form on the evaporator coils and as it melts water drips.

3. The condensate line is plugged up. You can fix this by using a vacuum to suck the clog out. You can also choose to use the Mighty Pump to blow or to suck the line clear. By regularly clearing out the condensate line you can save on costly damage.

If your unit seems to be in worse condition than you thought, don’t try to fix it yourself. Let the experts help you with your unit today. Contact Comfort Services for all of your HVAC needs.
